Versions and Spelling

Many dances have multiple versions of music associated with them. Most commonly there is an original recording and then an additional recording that has been cut to shorten the length of the dance. Some songs have different versions of the music, lyrics in a different language, or no lyrics at all.

Examples of Versions

  • Ahava Asura
  • Ahava Asura - Short
  • Ahava Asura (French)

The first version is the full length original. The "short" version is an edited cut of the music. The third version is exactly the same dance, but the music is performed in a different language.

Some dances have only one version, and others have many variations.

Examples of Alternative Spelling

The way a dance name is spelled in Hebrew is usually predictable, however transliterated names have the opportunity to be interpreted with many differences in spelling.

The dance אהבה אסורה has been transliterated as:

  • Ahava Asura
  • Ahavah Asura
  • Ahava Assura
